In efforts to enhance both economic and social development in Sierra Leone,President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, on Monday 30th May, 2022 during his state visit toKenya, successfully signed bilateral agreements with the Kenyan Government tobolster existing relations.Engagement during the bilateral engagement with His Excellency President UhuruKenyatta focused on enhancing trade relations and promoting investment in efforts toboost engagement in these areas.Other areas of focus also included political and diplomatic consultations, wildlifeconservation and tourism development, culture and arts, gender equality andwomen empowerment and youth affairs.

The signing of the Joint Commission for Cooperation and the aforementionedMemoranda was presided over by both Heads of State.The President was accompanied by Mr. Jacob J. Saffa, Chief Minister; Prof.David J. Francis, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Dr.Edward H. Sandy, Minister for Trade and Industry; Madam Memunatu B. Pratt,Minister for Tourism and Culture among others.Comprehensively, President Bio’s State Visit to Kenya has yielded the most desiredfruits of the willingness of large business communities to invest in Sierra Leone in thevery near future; also, the State Visit triggered the opportunity of opening the foreignmarkets and reduce trade barriers between Sierra Leone and Kenya.
