In her official capacity as the High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to the Republic of Kenya after the presentation of her letters of credence to H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta in Nairobi, Madam Isatu A . Bundu had her maiden meeting with Sierra Leone Community on April 2, 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya. In her address, she expressed her delight at final holding this meeting, having been delayed owing to Covid-19 restrictions and scheduling.

Madam Bundu provided updates on the achievements of President Bio’s Administration including investment in human capital development through Free Quality Education; the enhancement of food security through agricultural programmes and advancements in gender equity and equality. By the conclusion of this meeting, a Committee to serve the Sierra Leonean Community had been formed.

On 21 May, 2022 High Commissioner Bundu joined the Community and Sierra Leoneans in East Africa in the celebrations of Sierra Leone’s belated Independence Day which was held at the Chancery’s premises in Nairobi. That celebration united all the Sierra Leoneans living in East Africa into one big family with a singular cultural heritage. Sierra Leoneans present included the Director General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), Madam Zainab Hawa Bangura; the Chairman of the Sierra Leone Community Committee, Mr. Tennyson Williams and a cross-section of professionals from various sectors and students. The High Commissioner looks forward to increased engagement with the community in 2023.
